Russell Kane will be performing a Work in Progress show ahead of a future tour on Saturday the 7th June at The Witham in Barnard Castle. It's going to be an intimate show so it was no surprise that all tickets sold out within the week.

Teesdale promoters Funny Way To Be launch their 2014 season with a barnstorming comedy night hosted by Hebburn star Alfie Joey. Based at the newly-refurbished Witham Hall in Barnard Castle, Funny Way To Be’s new programme kicks off on Saturday February 8th with four of the UK’s top stand-ups. You may recognise Alfie from both the first and second series of Jason Cook’s BBC2 sitcom Hebburn, or you might have listened to the Alfie and Charlie Breakfast Show on BBC Radio Newcastle, of which he co-hosts. Widely regarded as one of the UK’s top comperes, Alfie will be joined by stand-ups Andrew O’Neill, Tommy Rowson and Paul F Taylor, all of whom will be making rare trips to the North East. Our headliner Andrew O'Neill isn't your usual comedian. Highly inventive and extremely funny, Andrew has risen like warm air in a cold room ever since his debut in 2002. He’s done primetime comedy with Alan Partridge creator Steve Coogan, dabbled in reality TV, and had dozens of sketches broadcast on Radio 1. We’re delighted to bring him to Teesdale. Completing the line-up on February 8th will be 2011 So You Think You’re Funny? winner Tommy Rowson and Paul F Taylor, who is one of the UK’s most exciting and distinctive stand-ups. Peter Dixon, of Funny Way To Be, said, "This is a show that we've spent a lot of time putting together. On a mixed bill night like this we try to secure a range of comics to ensure there is a variety of styles and something for all tastes. TV regular Andrew O'Neill is someone we've always wanted to play at our comedy club. When I saw Paul F Taylor's wonderful show at last year's Leicester comedy festival I was also determined to bring him to Barnard Castle. Tommy Rowson tried out his Edinburgh show with us last July. He was a smash hit at the festival and has a great future ahead of him. Alfie Joey is a real joy to see and an ideal person to host a wonderful line up such as this." Funny Way To Be’s 2014 season includes some of stand-up’s biggest stars, with award-winners, TV stars and history makers amongst those coming to Barnard Castle in the next twelve months. · Former Edinburgh Comedy Award winner Jenny Éclair comes to town with an Eclarious new show on March 1st. · The top American comedy trio The Reduced Shakespeare perform "The Bible: The Complete Word of God (abridged)" on the 15th March. · Matt Richardson was a huge success hosting the Funny Way To Be comedy gala in September 2013, and he’s returning to Barnard Castle for his only North East date on his first tour – Hometown Hero – on March 22nd. · Another tour landing in Teesdale next year is Mike Wozniak’s fantastic Edinburgh Comedy Award-nominated show, Take the Hit. · Funny Way To Be favourite Craig Campbell returns to Barnard Castle for our Whit Weekend show on May 24th. · Pete Firman brings his extraordinary magic show to The Witham on June 21st. · Mock The Week star Jo Caulfield performs her new show, Better The Devil You Know, in Barnard Castle on July 19th after a sell-out performance here in 2012. · And Lucy Beaumont and Patrick Monahan – who makes an appearance on the second series of ITV’s diving show Splash – close our summer season with previews of their brand new Edinburgh Fringe shows. All Funny Way To Be shows start at 8.00pm. Doors are 7.30pm. |
