Stand-up comedy returns to Teesdale in July with more Edinburgh Fringe funnies from acts on their way to the world’s largest arts festival.
Funny Way To Be Comedy Club’s penultimate show of the summer comes to The Witham in Barnard Castle on Saturday 26 July, and sees award-winning comedians Lucy Beaumont and Patrick Monahan return to the market town with brand new shows.
Beaumont was the 2012 winner of the BBC New Comedy Award and, last year, won the Chortle award for Best Newcomer.
She was also a finalist in the 2013 Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year.
The Hull stand-up has appeared on TV in Live At The Electric on BBC3, and recently wrote and performed her first pilot show for BBC Radio 4, titled To Hull and Back, with Johnny Vegas.
This will be one of the very first chances to see Lucy’s debut solo show, We CanTwerk It Out.
Middlesbrough comedian Patrick Monahan has spent the last two years developing his theatre touring shows after winning ITV’s hit stand-up competition, Show Me The Funny.
His latest show, Adventures In Monahan Land, is another energetic, refreshingly clean hour from the charming festival favourite.
Lucy and Patrick arrive in Barnard Castle just days before they debut their brand new shows at the Edinburgh Fringe.
Peter Dixon, of Funny Way To Be, said: “Without a doubt Pat and Lucy are two of the loveliest people on the UK comedy scene. Lucy has gathered a whole string of awards for her performances as one of the very best character comedians, and we are sure she will be a massive hit with her first full solo show. Patrick is one of the nation's favourites and he's told us he is looking forward to giving out massive hugs as he also brings us his brand new show a few days before the start of the Edinburgh Festival. The evening is effectively two shows for half the price of one.”
