Rules for anyone attending one of our events

The last thing we want to do is to be heavy handed with a load of rules.  However, in order for us to be able to provide the service that we do in a consistent way in a manner that allows everyone to enjoy themselves at our events there are a few things that we need to maintain. We very much appreciate that it is very rare for anyone to do anything that disrupts the operation of Funny Way To Be or one of our comedy shows. Sometimes things happen because people have not thought about the wider consequences of their actions. These conditions are also very much based on good practice and industry standard.  As always, if you have any problem just give us a shout on the phone or send us a message (via the contact us page on this web site). We hare always happy to advise and explain and very much want you to have a great time at our shows.

Purchasing tickets

Tickets can only be purchased from approved ticket outlets (This web site, from us in person, The Witham, The Witham Web site and approved other web sites - See Tickets, Ticketmaster and Ents24).

Before placing a booking, carefully review your event and ticket selection. Once purchased tickets cannot be exchanged or refunded unless the Event is cancelled, moved to another date, or if details of the Event are significantly changed after a booking is placed (significant changes being a change of headline act, venue or show time).

The unlawful resale (or attempted unlawful resale) of a ticket is grounds for seizure or cancellation of that ticket without refund or other compensation. Consequently, tickets can not be listed as being available for resale/exchange on social media such as facebook/twitter/ticket reseller sites. Clearly if you buy a ticket from such a source you will not be allowed entry into the show (and have no recourse to 'refund'/compensation from Funny Way To Be Comedy).

Order confirmation will take the form of a summary web page at the end of the purchase sequence. This will be followed by an e-mail dispatched to the Customer. Both contain details of the seats purchased and a unique purchase reference number, which acts as the Customer's proof of payment. If you do not receive a confirmation number (in the form of a confirmation page or email) after submitting payment information, it is your responsibility to confirm with us whether or not the order has been completed, as only you may be aware of any problems that may occur during the purchase process. We will not be responsible for losses (monetary or otherwise) if a Customer assumes that an order was not placed because they failed to receive confirmation.

Any ticket-holder unable to present confirmation of purchase in the form of a print out of the e-mail (or web-page equivalent) and valid identification indicating they are the individual named on the confirmation may not be admitted to the event in question, and will not receive a refund. We will always, of course, try to help and track down an purchased properly completed.

Age restrictions

The default age restriction for our shows is 16+. However, it is carefully considered for each show and it does vary based on the content, the atmosphere that will be generated during the show and licensing considerations. The governing factor is not how "broadminded your kids are" or "that they have heard it all at school"!! It is your responsibility to ensure the tickets are purchased correctly.  Anyone under the age restriction set for a show will strictly not be admitted and we will be unable to give refunds.

Due to licensing restrictions, for all shows, anyone under 18 needs to be accompanied by an adult (someone who is 18 years old or over).

Ticket limits

Some shows have, for a variety of reasons, a ticket purchase limit.  When this is done we have thought about all our customers very carefully and take the issue extremely seriously.

Please adhere to published ticket limits. Persons who exceed the ticket limit may have any or all of their order(s) and tickets cancelled without prior notice by Funny Way To Be Comedy or the ticket agents at our discretion. This includes: orders associated with the same name, e-mail address, billing address, credit card number or other information.

Returns

Once purchased tickets cannot be exchanged or refunded unless the event is cancelled, moved to another date, or if details of the event are significantly changed after a booking is placed.

If a show is sold out we will, at our discretion, try our best to take back some or all of your tickets (once you have clearly stated you want to return it/them) and provide you (should we be successful in doing selling them) a credit note for purchasing tickets against any future Funny Way To Be Comedy show (subject to availability). We can not provide a cash refund against return tickets.  Returns are sold in the order they are returned to us. This is also the case if returns are for a show with allocated seating - i.e. they are still resold (and credited) in the order in which they are returned (irrespective of which physical seat(s) is/are returned and what physical seat is/are resold).

Returning tickets is best done in advance of the day of a show as we rarely get enough on the door enquirers for a sold out show to be able to resell tickets. The credit can, obviously, only be used subject to ticket availability. It does not give you any rights over future shows (i.e such as pre-booking shows announced prior to sales dates). Tickets can only be issued against credit notes once the initial rush of sales has subsided - this is for a number of technical reasons as well as the fact that otherwise it would be unfair on other purchasers. Credit notes for return tickets are valid for use for 18 months from the date of the returned show. At our discretion they can be used to purchase tickets for shows that take place after that time (as long as they are booked within the 18 month period).

Purchasing Return Tickets
Whenever possible we try to issue returns to coincide with our eNewsletters so that those that support us receive early notification. However, this is not always practical so on occasion we simply announce it on our facebook page.  Returns are always handled by Funny Way To Be Comedy (not the venue) and our web site will be the last place tickets are sold. If they are sold out there they are sold out everywhere.

Recording

Under no circumstances should photographs be taken or video/audio recorded at any of our events.

Latcomers

For many reasons (the nature of the shows, seats being unallocated and the layout of the auditorium with the entrance adjacent to the stage) we strictly cannot allow latecomers to be admitted, once the all clear has been given to start the show. At our discretion, we will try to allocate you a seat at the show interval (should there be one).

Whenever possible (and it is safe to do so) we open the auditorium doors 30 minutes before a show (and the bar opens 60 minutes before a show).

We, therefore, strongly suggest you and your party arrive in good time to find a seat in the auditorium that is to your liking.
