In-demand gag merchant Gary Delaney will bring his critically acclaimed Purist show to The Witham on Saturday 25 April as part of Funny Way To Be Comedy Club's residency at the recently refurbished venue.
Delaney, a double Sony Award winner, thinks that most shows don’t contain enough jokes, and is single handedly trying to redress the balance with this laugh-a-minute show chock-full of one-liners.
Peter Dixon, of Funny Way To Be Comedy Club, said: "Gary headlined a show for us in 2012 and was a massive hit with the audience. Since then he’s made lots of TV appearances and been touring the UK with his own show. We were delighted when he asked for us to add in a date to the extension of his highly successful tour."
Funny Way To Be's new comedy season officially gets underway on Saturday 10 January, with a headline appearance from award-winning comedian Lucy Beaumont.
2014 Edinburgh Comedy Award Best Newcomer and US comedian Alex Edelman visits The Witham on Saturday 7 February, before Funny Way To Be welcomes alternative comedy hero Tony Law to the region on Saturday 28 February.
The laughs keep on coming on Saturday 28 March as two critically-acclaimed stand-up shows come to Teesdale on the same night.
Comedy podcast legend Ray Peacock will perform an abridged version of his hit Edinburgh Fringe show, Here Comes Trouble, while Leicester Comedy Festival Best Show winner Ahir Shah is not to be missed.
To complement the more high-profile shows in the calendar, Funny Way To Be have also announced details of two bargain mid-week shows set to feature circuit headliners and the stand-up stars of tomorrow.
With tickets only a fiver, Teesdale comedy fans can see BBC New Comedy Award winner Steve Bugeja (21 January) and Chris Ramsey tour support Carl Hutchinson (11 March) for less than the cost of a pint in London.
Peter added: “With the announcement of the new season we now have seven stand-up comedy shows programmed until the end of April 2015. We have continued our commitment to bring the very best comedians, with a programme providing shows to suit all sorts of tastes, to rural Barnard Castle. In this season we have comics from the USA, Australia and Canada providing a real international flavour.”
Tickets for the Gary Delaney show are on sale now, priced £12.
Tickets for all shows are on sale from funnywaytobe.com.
